Pennies for Peace

From site:   Did you know that Pennies for Peace was started by students; and continues to be supported by students, their teachers, and their parents? In fact, the very first Pennies for Peace donation came from a group of elementary school students from Wisconsin, and with that contribution Pennies for Peace was born.

We believe that no matter how big or small you are, you can make a difference in other’s lives. When you participate in Pennies for Peace, you will learn about the rewards of sharing, and working together to bring hope and educational opportunities to children, especially girls, in Pakistan, Afghanistan and, Tajikistan—where just a few pennies buy a pencil, opens the door to literacy, and can change a life.
